Bedfordshire Golf Captains

Captain Steve

Hello and welcome to all the current and past captains of Bedfordshire Golf  Clubs. It is an absolute honour and privilege to be your Captain for the  coming year. I know I have some very esteemed standards to live up  to  following in such prestigious footsteps of others that have led the way for over 50 years before me. Once over the surprise of being asked I had no hesitation in accepting and it will be an absolute pleasure to be your Captain for the 2025 season. My allegiance to The Bedfordshire Captains stems back to my days at the Cromwell Golf Club, where I was Captain in 2006.

I am currently the President of St Neots Golf Club and was Captain there in 2020. Back in 2015 I was ready to give up golf, I wasn't enjoying life on the course anymore and I must thank my good friend Nick Bowditch, for dragging me along to a Bedfordshire Captains event. I started to get a bit of enthusiasm back and found myself yearning for the next event. Past Captains blood now runs through my veins. I'm not sure I should admit this, but you'll also occasionally find me in the darker blue of Cambridgeshire as well. But please be assured, Bedfordshire is where my heart lies.

I know with your support and the support of our immediate past Captain Dave Mcgarry, President Syd Pniewski, Dave Hawkins & my Vice Captain Les Tucker, our group is in good hands, and we are heading for a very enjoyable year. I'd like to take the opportunity of thanking Clive Bassindale for his stirling efforts last year and thank both him and Chris Foster as they help our new Secretary, John McLoughlin bed into the hot seat. I'd also like to thank Bryan Murnane for filling the shoes of Dave Price, who has decided to step back from his match & kit manager roles.

A massive thank you must go to our match managers as well. This year, as every year before it, will be fun and I relish the opportunity to working with the committee, as well as meeting and playing with as many of you as possible over the next 12 months. Thank you all for putting your trust in me, I wish each and every one of you a healthy, strong and enjoyable golfing year.
