Beds Mens First team v Essex Mens First team . 29th June, home at Beds&County
Following the excellent away win against Middlesex the County team took on strong opposition from Essex in their second league match, played at Beds & County on Sun 29 Jun. The morning foursomes saw the visitors gain the upper hand securing 3 wins with the solitary point delivered by Scott Armitage and Rob Sutton. The afternoon singles saw a great 4&3 win for Jordan White against Oliver Allison at the top of the order, and with Jon Marlow securing a well-deserved half in the second match against Shaun Mills things looked promising. Unfortunately, despite huge effort and some good golf by the rest of the team no further points were obtained, with Bedfordshire ending on the wrong side of some very close matches with three being lost by a single hole, with the final result a 2.5-9.5 loss to Essex.

Match Report – Away v Middlesex at Northwood Golf Club. 15th June 2025
On a very firm and fast golf course, and on what was a pleasant day weather wise, the morning Foursomes began positively with all matches going Up early and continuing to press home their advantage throughout the round. This gave Bedfordshire a very healthy 4-0 lead after the morning session.
Notable performances from Scott Armitage & Jordan White winning 7&5, Joe Kirby & Kyle Faulkner winning 6&5 and Rob Sutton & James Stocks also winning 6&5. The fourth pairing of John Marlow & Ben Hull won convincingly with 4&2.
The afternoon Singles proved to be a much closer affair, but still with strong performances from Scott and Rob winning 4&2 and 5&4 respectively. There was a promising 3&2 win for James on his debut for the First Team.
Bedfordshire won the afternoon session 4 ½ - 3 ½ with a win from John and a half from Joe.
This gave Bedfordshire an 8 ½ - 3 ½ Match Win.
An excellent team performance and a great start to the 2025 season.

Mens First Team Seacroft Foursome 2025 Report
The Bedfordshire Mens team made the annual trip to Skegness to contest the 2025 version of the Eastern Inter County Foursomes, against 8 other counties in the region, played at Seacroft GC.
Eleven players were selected, with debuts at the event for Kyle Faulkner, Luke Charalambous, Adam Northfield, Joe Kirby and Jon Marlow who joined Scott Armitage, Rob Sutton, Ryan Craig, Jordan White, Rob Brightman and Fraser Jamieson, who had all experienced this unique challenge of 72 holes of foursome golf on the challenging links course. The weather for the weekend was mostly overcast, with some sun but decidedly chilly with a north-easterly breeze gusting to 25-30 knots at certain times over the two days. Nonetheless, the Beds team were hot off the blocks and the Saturday morning session yielded 7 (out of possible 10) points against Norfolk and BB&O. The lunch break seemed to slow this momentum and a disappointing afternoon return of only 2 points against Suffolk and Essex left the team placed in 7th .
Sunday morning’s match up saw Northants and Lincs as the opponents and a battling performance saw 5.5 points achieved. The final session against Leicestershire & Rutland, and near neighbours Cambridgeshire produced some more quality golf and a final return of 6.5 points to see a final team aggregate of 21 points. This was good enough for 5 th place and only 3 points behind the winners Lincs with Suffolk finishing second on 23, and Leicestershire & Rutland third with 22.5.
A great weekend of golf and a true team effort with every player competing in at least 3 sessions, and all players returning points for the team. Notable mentions for the new pairing of Ryan Craig and Kyle Faulkner who returned 6 out of 8 points, and also to Luke Charalambous and Jordan White with 5 points. Overall, a great weekend of golf
highlighted by tremendous team spirit, commitment and resilience; also a huge thank you from the Mens Management team to the County support provided by Dave McGarry, Suky Sehmbi and David Hawkings.
