Bedfordshire Golf loses three memorable people in 3 terrible days

Kim Burnage pictured as she hosted the 2024 Executive & Guest Day at her home club, Aylesbury Vale.

The responses from the golfing world have been amazing;

Kim was such a lovely lady, and really a pleasure to work with. I always enjoyed my time working with Bedfordshire and seeing Kim and yourself, knowing that I would always have warm welcome, and positive conversations about how you were both moving everything forward. I know that she will be greatly missed by everyone, but leaves a wonderful legacy in the golfing world.

She has been an immense character and support for our county. Personally she has been a massive support and I will definitely miss her guidance and help.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Kim's death.  Thank you for notifying the East Region Counties.  Kim was well known to many in Essex and there is no doubt she will be hugely missed.  It was great to see her at the recent 2nd team match days when she was very positive and we were so pleased for her and Bedfordshire when they won the trophy.  We will remember her with great fondness. On behalf of Essex may I extend our sincere condolences to Kim's family and all at Bedfordshire Golf.

It goes without saying that we are deeply saddened by Kim’s passing.  She was a wonderful friend and colleague and all of the County organisations wish their condolences and kind thoughts to be communicated to you as a County, her close working colleagues and also to Kim’s family.

Pauline was on a golfing holiday with a friend and fellow Club member in Arizona, USA, when tragedy struck; what appeared to be an innocuous accident resulted in her hospitalization and, unthinkably, her not regaining consciousness after emergency surgery.  Pauline’s life support machine was turned off earlier today.

This tragedy comes just 5 months after the untimely passing of her beloved husband Richard.

Ladies Section Captain in 2012, the Club’s first female Club Captain in 2021 and an almost constant presence on the General Committee for the past decade, not forgetting her role as a Director of Bedfordshire County Golf Limited, Pauline was the epitome of a volunteer; she worked incredibly hard, year after year, and added real value to her Club.

For now, all we can do is reflect on a life of service to her beloved Club and, if there is any solace whatsoever, recognise that Pauline passed in what was a very special place for Richard and her.
