Harry Laycock (South Beds) carded the best net round of 65 in the Bedfordshire Junior Order of Merit Grand Final at Aspley Guise & Woburn Sands as he finished one stroke ahead of home club member Nathan Nolan in late August. Henry Wooster (Leighton Buzzard) compiled the lowest gross score of level par 71.

Hayden Tallentire (The Millbrook) came through to grab the first prize in the Boys second division as he posted net 66 to nudge one ahead of Lucas Harley (South Beds), Charlie Collison (Cainhoe Wood) and Dannan Gill (South Beds).

Leighton Buzzard’s Hannah Walsh produced the standout performance in the Girls competition as she fired a net 69 to finish seven shots clear of Ixie Akpan (John O’Gaunt), Amanda Ellis (Cainhoe Wood) and Leah Burgess (Aylesbury Vale).

The Grand Final capped an excellent year for junior golfers within Bedfordshire as record number of youngsters took part in the various handicap qualifying competitions across the County.

The Millbrook’s Oliver Clark and Hayden Tallentire were crowned Boys Order of Merit champions in the Gross and Net categories respectively. Amanda Ellis (Cainhoe Wood) and Georgia Gordon (John O’Gaunt) finished first in the Girls Order of Merit Gross and Net divisions respectively.

As a reward for qualifying for, and entering, the Bedfordshire Junior Order of Merit Grand Final, every player received a prize of an individually named and logo’ed Bedfordshire water bottle.
