Boys' County Championships 2019

The 2019 Boys' County Championships were played on 6th August at Bedford & County Golf Club. The golf course was very well presented and the wind provided an excellent challenge to the 32 players who competed. Despite the conditions there were some excellent scores. 

The age group winners were:

Under 12 Champion - Dillon Basi (pictured below)

Under 14 Champion - Harry Lake (pictured below)

U16 Champion - Alex Robins (pictured below)

There was a tie for first place in the U18 and County Championship between Brandon Sanders and Finlay Cummings. Brandon led Finlay by 3 strokes going into the afternoon round having had a commendable 75 in the morning. In the afternoon it was Finlay who handled the conditions better and he finished with a 77 compared to Brandon's 80. So, a tie on 155 for the two rounds.

The two players headed back on to the course for the sudden death strokeplay play-off over holes 1, 2 & 18.

Brandon won the toss and chose to play first. No surprises on the first hole which was shared with two pars. On the par 3 second, Brandon missed the green to the right and chipped on to leave a 12 foot putt for par. Finlay had putted up to about 6 feet.

Brandon's putt looked good all the way but pulled up less than an inch from the hole. Finlay confidently made his putt to win the title. Congratulations go to Finlay (pictured below) who is our Boys' County Champion for 2019.
